Sending Parcels to Europe

Need to send a parcel to Europe? No matter where on the continent your package is headed, Hermes can help.

Get started with a quote today, and your package will start its journey in the same way it would with any of our domestic services.

Our European courier services can deliver anywhere on the mainland: Germany, France, Spain, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Poland and beyond.

How quickly will your parcel get there?

Our estimated delivery time for all international packages, including those to Europe, is three to seven working days. Your package could potentially make its way across Europe as quickly as it would make its way across the UK, but it's always best to allow an extra day or two for delivery overseas. Please note that we cannot guarantee a specific delivery date for any international deliveries.

How much will it cost?

The cost of your delivery depends on a few factors. The size and weight of your parcels will determine the price, but when shipping to Europe the main thing to consider is the destination.

Here is a quick guide to the costs involved with shipping one small parcel to various destinations in Europe, though for a more specific quote for any European destination, head to our Quick Quote tool.

Destination Price (inc. VAT)
France £14.05
Germany £11.64
Greece £27.43
Italy £19.73
Poland £15.71
Portugal £20.81
Spain £15.29

No matter where you're shipping to, £20 compensation cover is included in your price, and you can also increase this to a maximum of £1,000 during the order process if you wish.

What rules are there for posting to Europe?

Sending to countries within the EU is simple – you just have to attach an address label, just as you would within the UK. It's only when you're shipping to a destination outside of the EU that you need additional documentation.

The following countries are inside the EU, so you'll need no additional documentation for shipping:

Austria Italy
Belgium Latvia
Bulgaria Lithuania
Croatia Luxembourg
Cyprus Malta
Czech Republic Netherlands
Denmark Poland
Estonia Portugal
Finland Romania
France Slovakia
Germany Slovenia
Greece Spain
Hungary Sweden
Ireland

However, there are a few locations that are technically within the EU, but still need extra documentation:

  • The Channel Islands (Jersey, Guernsey, Alderney, Herm and Sark)
  • Andorra
  • The Canary Islands
  • Gibraltar
  • San Marino
  • The Vatican

For more information on the documentation you will need for these areas, please click here

Rules on what you can and can't send will vary from country to country, so to ensure your package complies with the laws of your destination country, you will want to avoid sending anything on our restricted list.
